Back to My Core
I seem to be going back to what I know and understand, the nonobjective. Focusing this time on pattern, space and value. The largest piece I've painted in years, the support is much like canvas and will be "stretched" on a frame (haven't done that since the nineties). I have taken so many art detours, I am anxious to get back to just painting. There is something simple and deliberate about the act. Though I can't stop pasting paper on things, so there is collage as well.
New Artist Statement
My goals are to examine life, visually communicate contemporary human stories and share dialogue. I work intuitively, not knowing the exact destination of the piece. Each piece is an experiment. My work is temporary in form, like moments and life. While durability is a priority, experimentation with subject matter, media and its application are paramount. I initiate stories, and provide no definite endings. I gravitate towards simple, problematic stories. I want my work to evoke questions and to prompt novel thought about traditional conditions and mores.
